The short answer

Vinted describes deleting an account as deactivating it immediately, with some data kept temporarily before it is permanently deleted. Vinted says an account can be restored within three months by contacting support. Before you start, finish active orders and withdraw any remaining balance. TraceErase read Vinted’s help pages and UK privacy policy on 7 October 2026 and 8 October 2026 but has not signed in to run the flow.

Before you start

Vinted is a marketplace where members buy and sell between themselves, so an account can hold a balance and active orders alongside personal details. Those need settling before deletion.

Ofcom Online Nation 2025 (May 2025): Vinted 29% (14.3m) of UK online adults (retail visits). This is a retail visits figure, not a count of accounts.

Vinted’s UK privacy policy says Vinted Platform Limited is the company behind the Vinted app and website and is responsible for the data, apart from delivery or payment services. This page covers the UK site; other country sites and Vinted Pro business arrangements were not reviewed.

The reviewed record has two separate routes: deleting the account in the app or on the website, and asking Vinted privacy support to erase your personal data by email. They are not the same request.

  • Finish orders and withdraw funds. Complete active orders first. You lose access to money and order information still in the account.
  • Ask for a copy of your data first if you want one.
  • Know the account is hidden at once. Deletion deactivates the account immediately and hides it from other users.
  • Check whether the account can be deleted. Accounts permanently blocked for safety reasons cannot be deleted.
  • Think about appeals. Using a data-deletion right may stop you making new appeals or getting updates on existing ones.

Close the account

Done through the app or the website. You need to sign in to your account first.

  1. Finish all active orders and withdraw any remaining balance to your bank account.
  2. In the app open Profile, then Settings, then Account settings, then Delete my account.
  3. Tick the box confirming transactions are complete and confirm deletion.
  4. On the website start from the profile icon dropdown; the steps are similar.

Ask for your data to be erased

Done through email or post. No sign-in is needed.

  1. Email Vinted privacy support saying you are asking for your personal data to be erased; giving a reason is optional but Vinted says it can speed things up.
  2. Be ready to confirm your identity, which Vinted says it may ask for.
  3. Vinted reviews the request and, if it must keep some data, says so.
  4. Alternatively delete the account itself using the deletion help page.

Limits to know about

  • Vinted says erasure is not always possible and applies when the data is no longer needed, consent is withdrawn or an objection succeeds.
  • Using the erasure right may stop you making new appeals or getting updates on existing ones.
  • Vinted says accounts are normally kept up to 5 years after you stop using it, and 3 months after deactivation.

Deleting the account versus asking for erasure

Deleting the account deactivates it immediately. Vinted says some data is kept temporarily before permanent deletion, and that the account can be restored within three months by contacting support.

Asking for erasure by email is separate. Vinted says erasure is not always possible and applies when the data is no longer needed, consent is withdrawn or an objection succeeds. It may ask you to confirm your identity, and if it must keep some data it says so.

Two retention figures

Vinted says it generally keeps data while you use Vinted and up to 5 years after, and keeps data for 3 months after a deactivation in case you return. The reviewed pages do not reconcile the two. If retention matters to you, ask Vinted in an erasure request what it must keep.

Data copy and marketing

Vinted’s data request tool in your privacy settings sends a confirmation link by email that expires after a day. The file is usually ready in minutes but can take up to 30 days, and Vinted says data that could harm another person’s rights or freedoms is left out. For more than the account data file, the privacy policy points to Vinted privacy support.

For marketing, you can unsubscribe in your Notifications settings, or object by email, in which case Vinted says it stops using your data for direct marketing immediately. Account and service messages may still be sent.

What to expect afterwards

What changes or is lost

  • The account deactivates immediately and is hidden from other users.
  • You lose access to money and order information still in the account.
  • Using a data-deletion right may stop you making new appeals or getting updates on existing ones.

Changing your mind. Vinted says accounts can be restored within three months by contacting support.

What may be kept. Vinted says it generally keeps data while you use Vinted and up to 5 years after, and keeps data for 3 months after a deactivation in case you return.

What TraceErase does here, and what you do

  • You follow the organisation’s steps above on its own site or app, and send any request yourself. TraceErase does not log in to your accounts, does not hold your passwords and does not send requests to Vinted UK for you.
  • TraceErase shows the guidance it checked and the date, prepares an editable draft request from a template, and keeps a record of what you sent and when, with provisional response dates worked out from the dates you enter.
  • A directory listing is not proof that you have an account, and following these steps is not proof that the organisation has erased anything. The organisation decides its own reply.
